Coptic Orth. Priest Killed with Cleaver in Cairo; Muslims Killed 100 Egyptian Christians in 2017

Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church says a priest has been killed in a knife attack in Cairo, the latest deadly assault on the country's Christian minority, the ABC News website reports today (October 13, 2017).

The church said the attack occurred yesterday, apparently by a Muslim radical.

Security officials said the attacker struck the priest's head with a cleaver and fled the scene, but was later arrested.

Attacks on Egypt's Christians in the predominantly Islamic country have increased in recent months. A series of suicide bombings claimed by the Islamic State (IS) militant group has resulted in the deaths of some 100 Christians so far in 2017.
