Pope in Kazakhstan:Conflict to Yield to Dialogue; Says World Peace Is New International Relations

Pope Francis celebrated Mass yesterday for Kazakhstan's small Catholic population, where he lamented the war in Ukraine and said dialogue is the only way to achieve peace, the Crux website reports today (September 15, 20222).

After celebrating mass marking the Catholic feast of the Exaltation of the Cross on his second day in Kazakhstan, the pope pointed to the National Sanctuary of the Queen of Peace in the northern city of Oziornoje, near its lengthy border with Russia.

"In our day, every military conflict or hot spot of tension and confrontation will necessarily have a baneful domino effect and seriously comprise the system of international relations," the pope said.
