Gunmen Kill 28 People in Mexican Strip Club; May Have Been Result of Rival Drug Cartels

Gunmen burst into a Mexican strip club in a hail of bullets and killed at least 28 people as they trapped revelers inside and started a raging fire, the AFP (Agence France-Presse) website reports today (August 28, 2019).

Many of the dead were dancers who worked there, managers said.

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador condemned the "shameful" attack in the city of Coat- zacoalcos.

The August 27 night attack, which left nine people seriously wounded, is the latest to rock the state of Veracruz, which has become popular for wars between Mexico's rival drug cartels.
