Afghan Soldiers Kill 2 Romanian NATO Soldiers; NATO Troops Avenge, Kill the 2 Afghan Shooters

Gunmen wearing Afghan military uniforms shot dead two Romanian soldiers in the country's south today (May 7, 2016), in the first insider attack on foreign troops since the Taliban launched its spring offensive last month, according to the Telegraph (British) website.

The attack occurred in Kandahar province, which has seen long-simmering tensions between Afghan and foreign forces.

"Two Resolve Support [NATO] service members died this morning when two individuals wearing Afghan uniforms opened fire... in southern Afghanistan," the military coalition said. "Resolute Support members returned fire and killed the shooters."

The two NATO soldiers were identified as Romanian, the defense ministry in Bucharest, Romania said, adding that the incident occurred during a training mission for Afghan police.
