Greek police today (May 18, 2016) fired tear gas and stun grenades at refugees and migrants who tried to push a railway carriage through a police cordon during a protest at a crowded camp on Greece's northern border with FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), according to the ABC News website.
Police said about 200 people were involved in today's violence, and the migrants also attacked officers with stones.
The sprawling camp in the northern Greek city of Idomeni is home to some 10,000 migrants trapped in Greece, after a series of border closures by nations further north in Europe's prosperous heartland.
Officials said protesters pushed an empty railway carriage at Greek police stationed on the line at the Macedonian border fence.
