Millions of Eastern Orthodox Celebrate Easter; Jewish Passover Must Occur before Orth. Easter

Millions of Eastern Orthodox Christians around the world celebrated Easter yesterday (April 16, 2023) -- one week after Roman Catholics and Protestants celebrated Easter.

The Eastern Orthodox Easter was a week later because it must always be preceded by the Jewish Passover.

Easter is the most important holiday of the year for Orthodox Christians as  believers celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. As a tradition, Greeks meeting other Greeks on Easter usually say "Christos Anesti" (Christ is Risen) to which the phrase "Alithos Anesti" (Truly He is Risen) is replied.
