Inflation in the U.S. is now showing its highest annual increase in 40 years, the UPI website reports today (March 10, 2022).
The Labor Department said in its monthly Consumer Price Index today that inflation rose by 7.9% in the 12 months ending in February. That's the highest 12-month increase since 1982.
Analysts expect next month's report to show another rise in the energy index, as Russia's war in Ukraine and its impact on gas prices were not accounted for in today's report.
