US Strikes Afghan IS for Killing 13 Americans; Biden Vowed Revenge for the Afghan Bombing

 The U.S. launched a drone strike against the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan early today (August 28, 2021), two days after President Joe Biden vowed revenge for a suicide bombing that killed 13 American troops, The Daily Beast website reports. 


Military officials said the strike targeted a member of IS in the Nangarhar region who was believed to be involved in the planning of attacks on the U.S. in Kabul.


But it was not clear if the person who orchestrated the bombing at the Kabul airport, which also killed scores of Afghans trying to flee the country after the Taliban's swift takeover.
