Trump Announces Plan to Lower Prices of Drugs; Asserts Drug Companies Overcharging Americans

President Donald Trump today (October 25, 2018) announced a plan to lower prices for prescription drugs, saying it would stop unfair practices that force Americans to pay much more than people in other countries for the same medications, according to the AP website.

"Same company. Same box. Same pill. Made in exact same location, and you would go to some countries and it would be 20 percent of the cost of what we pay," Trump said.

Trump added that his plan will save Americans billions of dollars on drugs.

Millions of Americans buy their drugs from Canada for less than half the cost of the same drugs in the U.S., since the Canadian government sets the price of drugs, not the pharmaceutical companies as in the U.S.
