"I will not stop being a Christian while in service to my country," Ben Carson, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), said in response to a lawsuit filed against him by an atheist group, unhappy that he is attending a weekly Bible study, the USSA News website reports today (January 29, 2018).
The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) is also opposed to any government resources being used by Carson at the meetings.
Carson said, "I refuse to be intimidated by anti-religious groups into relinquishing my spirituality or religious beliefs."
He added, "One of the principles of our nation's founding is freedom of religion..."
