New Study: US White Christians Fading Fast; Being Replaced by Younger Non-White Races

A new study by the Public Religion Research Institute finds that white Christians in America are giving way to younger members who tend to be of different races, the Religion News website reports today (September 8, 2017).

Also, American evangelicals are quickly losing members.

Americans are also continuing to move away from organized religion, as atheists, agnostics, and those who say they do not identify with any particular religion -- the group known as "nones" -- hold steady at 24 percent of the population.

White Christians -- 81 percent of the U.S. population in 1976 -- now account for only 43 percent of Americans.
