US to Take Tough Stance on Israel in New Report; Report to Rip Israeli Settlements, Seek UN Assent

U.S. diplomats have said that Israel will soon be taken to task by the U.S. over settlements, demolitions, and property seizures on land that the Palestinians claim for a future state in an international report, the Big News Network website reports today (May 8, 2016).

The diplomats add that the U.S. is lining up closer to the positions of the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations, all of whom have criticized Israel's role in the Middle East conflict.

The report will focus mostly on the rise of construction of Israeli housing in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

The report -- which is likely to enrage Israel -- will be released at the UN and be sent to the Security Council for endorsement. It will underline the problems in the peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians, and provide recommendations to restart negotiations.
