Israel attacked a target in Syria last night to prevent a planned drone attack by Iran on Israel, the World Israel News website reports today (August 25, 2019).
Israel fired missiles at the Damascus International Airport located to the south of the capital, destroying the drones before they could be launched.
Reports say the drones attack was going to be carried out in the next few days with the intention of hitting Israeli targets in the north of the country.
According to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), "Iran and the Syrian regime are directly responsible for the attempted attack."
