Assad: US and Turkey Illegal Invaders in Syria; Vows to Retake Raqqa Now in Hands of Rebels

A top adviser to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said today (November 7, 2017) that U.S. and Turkish troops are "illegal invader forces" on Syrian territory, and Syria will "deal with them," according to the Reuters website.

Bouthaina Shaaban also said that Damascus would not give up on the northern city of Raqqa, which was liberated from the Islamic State (IS) terror group last month by U.S.-backed Kurdish-led Syrian rebels.

"We will deal with this issue as we deal with any illegal invader force on our lands," she said.

Assad's forces -- helped by Russian air power and Iran-backed militias -- have managed to reestablish control over most of Syria during the past two years.
