Hungary has decided to build a new fence on its southern border to keep out refugees and migrants, the Euro News website reports today (February 27, 2017).
A barbed wire barrier was erected in 2015 along its frontier with several Balkan neighbors as the country wanted to stop people from crossing into its territory.
A government spokesperson told Euro News that this measure is needed as Europe will probably face a huge wave of refugees later this year.
The measures are part of a move to shut down the Western Balkans route that was taken by hundreds of thousands of migrants in 2015.
