CNN Reporter Calls Cheering Gaza Israelis "Scum;" Posted Slur on Twitter, CNN Sends Her to Moscow

A CNN reporter -- who called a group of Israelis "scum" yesterday -- is no longer covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a foreign correspondent, the New York Daily News website reports today (July 18, 2014).

Diana Magnay has been reassigned to CNN's Moscow bureau after taking to Twitter to vent her anger about an Israeli group cheering missiles striking Palestinian positions in Gaza last night. The Israeli group also allegedly threatened to "destroy" her team's car if Magnay said anything they didn't like on the air.

"After being threatened and harassed before and during a live shot, Diana reacted angrily on Twitter," a CNN spokeswoman said. "She deeply regrets the language used, which was aimed directly at those who had been targeting our crew."

Magnay deleted the controversial comment from Twitter about 20 minutes after posting it. She posted it after she told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that the cheering of the Israeli strikes was "astonishing, macabre, and awful."
