NJ Synagogue Residence Firebombed This A.M.; Molotov Cocktails Ignite Rabbi's Rutherford Home

New Jersey law enforcement officials suspect that more than one person may be involved in a hate crime, after a synagogue where nine people were living was firebombed early this morning, the Associated Press website reports today (January 11, 2012).

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said several Molotov cocktails and other incindiary devices were thrown at a Rutherford home housing a synagogue on the first floor and the rabbi's residence on the second.

The rabbi, his wife, five children, and the rabbi's parents were sleeping. One device ignited in the rabbi's bedroom, and he suffered minor burns putting it out.

This is the fourth anti-Semitic incident to have occurred at a Jewish center or synagogue in northern New Jersey in recent weeks.
