China has launched an effort to "erase" all churches, and last year saw an increase in the persecution of Christians in the Communist-run nation, the Worthy News website reports today (Feb. 17, 2023).
ChinaAid, a well-informed advocacy group supporting Christians in China, reported that Chinese people are increasingly forced to worship Chinese President Xi Jinping. It recorded escalating "persecutions against Chinese churches and Christians in mainland China" in 2022.
ChinaAid said in its annual report that a crackdown by the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) made "churches and Christians increasingly afraid of exposing their lived persecution experiences to the outside world."
