The shooting death of a high-ranking Catholic Church bishop in Los Angeles on Feb. 18, 2023 is being investigated as a homicide, the USA Today website reports.
Auxiliary Bishop David O'Connell was found dead at a home in Hacienda Heights, about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
Homicide detectives arrived at the home Saturday afternoon (Feb. 18) to respond to a "shooting death investigation," where O'Connell was pronounced dead at the scene.
