Scotland Enacts Law Banning Child Spanking; Lets Police Investigate, Charge, Jail Spankings

A new law that went into effect in Scotland today (November 14, 2020) requires a person who spanks a child to serve time in jail, according to the WND website.

The law, which bans "mild physical discipline," authorizes police to investigate, charge, and jail anyone for the offense.

The Scottish Parliament, in the Children (Equal Protection from Assault) (Scotland) Act of 2019, now calls such discipline "assault."
