Alabama Man Arrested for Terrorism Support; Aziz Sayyed,22, Also Being Investigated by FBI

A 22-year-old man from Huntsville, Alabama was arrested by local authorities on charges of soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism, the Clarion Project website reports today (June 19, 2017).


Aziz Sayyed, who is a U.S. citizen born in North Carolina, is also being investigated by the FBI.


Details in the case were not released, but Roger Stanton, the FBI special agent in charge, said, "We successfully mitigated a threat today with this arrest."


The arrest came as a direct result of a tip given to police, said Huntsville Police Department Chief Mark McMurray.
