Five Russians Die in Downed Helicopter in Syria; IS Calls on Members for Terror Attacks in Russia

The Kremlin said that five military personnel on board a helicopter shot down in Syria today (August 1, 2016) were killed, according to the Jerusalem Post website.

The helicopter -- with the five on board -- was shot down in Syria's Idlib province by Syrian rebels.

They died a "heroic death" on a humanitarian mission, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a conference call with reporters.

The Russian forces are supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad in Syria's five-year-old civil war. Yesterday, the Islamic State (IS) posted a nine-minute message on You Tube, calling on its members to carry out jihad (holy war) in Russia.
