Israeli Child Killed,Two Wounded in Syrian Attack; Anti-Tank Missile Fired by Syria on Golan Heights

Israel has filed a complaint with the United Nations over a cross-border attack on the Golan Heights today (June 22, 2014) that killed one Israeli child and wounded two adults, according to the Jewish Press website.

One 13-year-old boy, an Israeli citizen named Mohammad Karake from the town of Arrabe -- an Arab village in the Galilee -- was killed by an explosion next to the Syrian border, apparently caused by an anti-tank missile. Karake's father, a civilian contractor for the Ministry of Defense, was critically wounded and the third was lightly wounded.

"This is not a case of errant fire, but of an intentional attack," said IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner. "The IDF will continue to watch the northern border and react to developments in the field accordingly."

The explosion coincided with rising tensions in Judea and Samaria, where the massive manhunt of three Israeli kidnapped teenage boys is now in its ninth day.
