Egypt Court Bans Muslim Brotherhood Activities; Court Also Freezes All of the Brotherhood's Assets

An Egyptian court today (September 23, 2013) banned all Muslim Brotherhood activities and those of any affiliated associations in Egypt and has frozen all of its assets, according to the Euro News website. The group has condemned the decision.

It is the latest move in the crackdown on the Islamist group which supports ousted President Mohamed Mursi.

Since he was removed from power by the military on July 1st, around 1,000 brotherhood members have been arrested and many killed in violent clashes.

The news comes just one day after the constitutional committee announced a rollback of changes to the constitution adopted under Mursi.
