Kerry Disappointed at Israelis and Palestinians; Both Sides Hinder Peace Talks Expiring April 30

Secretary of State Kerry signaled today (April 4, 2014) that the U.S. is losing patience over lack of progress in the Mideast peace talks, saying it was "reality check time," according to the Got News Wire website.

Kerry said Washington was evaluating its role in the process, adding "both sides have taken steps that are not helpful" in recent days.

His comments came after Israel called off a planned relief of Palestinian prisoners yesterday, and the Palestinian Authority solidified its role in the United Nations.

Last August, Kerry persuaded Israeli and Palestinian negotiators to resume talks and set a nine-month timetable for an agreement to be reached. That timetable expires at the end of this month.
