The Christian Today website reports that Christians around the world today (February 12, 2012) are paying tribute to renowned singer Whitney Houston, who died last night at the age of 48.
Al Sharpton -- civil rights campaigner and former presidential candidate -- led prayers for Houston during today's Sunday service at the Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
Houston was the daughter of Gospel singer Cissy Houston and grew up singing in church.
In a tribute to Houston, pastor Joe Carter of the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey -- where Houston sang in the choir as a teenager -- said, "What I remember best is her singing the praises of Jesus Christ."
