Pope Francis and U.S. President Joe Biden spoke last night (Oct. 22, 2023) in a 20-minute phone call about the war between Israel and Hamas, among other things discussing the importance of humanitarian aid, the Crux website reports.
Patriarchs and Church leaders in the Holy Land also issued a statement condemning the targeting of civilian infrastructure and calling for a ceasefire.
Also yesterday, Biden spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and thanked him for allowing two convoys of humanitarian assistance to enter Gaza and the two agreed that there will be a "continued flow" of critical assistance.
