Rev.Jesse Jackson, the iconic aging civil rights activist and trailblazing presidential candidate, announced today (July 14, 2023) he is stepping down from Rainbow/PUSH Coalition after a half century at the helm of the Chicago-based civil rights organization, the Daily News website reports.
Jackson's departure from the political scene leaves Rev.Al Sharpton as the nation's preeminent civil rights leadership.
l
Jackson was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2015 and stepped down from leadership of the group last year.
