More than 1,000 firefighters battled through the night to try to get a huge wildfire under control near the city of Bordeaux in southwest France, the Euro News website reports today (August 11, 2022).
By this morning, nearly 6,800 hectares of pine forest went up in smoke after the fire broke out two days before in thee Gironde area.
"We fought all night," said Lt. Col. Arnaud Mendhouse of the Gironde fire and rescue service.
