High Court Votes against Abortion in Key Case; Vote Leaked to Press to Pressure Judges' Change

A reported draft of a 5-4 U.S. Supreme Court decision in a Mississippi abortion case (Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization) suggest the  Supreme Court voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, which made abortion a federally protected right, the New American website reports today (May 4, 2022).

The alleged leak to the media of the Supreme Court vote is seen by some conservative observers as a crude attempt by a justice to pressure the pro-life justices to change their vote in favor of abortion.

The text of the draft was published by "Politico" journal on May 2. "Politico" described the decision as a "full-throated unflinching repudiation" of the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which established abortion as a constitutionally protected right.
