HHS Sets Up Task Force on Reproductive Health; Labels Abortion Access as Essential Health Care

The Biden administration's U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a "Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access," labeling abortion access as essential health care and attempting to  "eliminate barriers" to it across government agencies, the National Catholic Register website reports today (February 1, 2022).

HHS will give nearly $2 million in Title X grant funding to Planned Parenthood to "protect reproductive health care and ensure access in quality family planning services."

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said that, "as we commemorate the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we recommit to protecting and strengthening access to reproductive health care, including the right to safe and legal abortion care that the Supreme Court has recognized for decades."
