Greek Govt. to Employ Many Migrants in Agric.; Will Perform Agriculture Jobs Greeks Won't Do

The Greek government is planning to create a "job vacancy" scheme where refugees and migrants can find seasonal work in agriculture fields, the Keep Talking Greece website reports today (February 16, 2020).

The government plans to set up a "migrants' job agency" for farmers, so they can find workers for their fields.

The scheme aims to revitalize the countryside and the rural economy, as Greeks normally do not seek such jobs. Many neighbors from Albania come to Greece each year to work these seasonal jobs.

Workers for seasonal jobs and for various crops are sought all over Greece, and the government and relevant ministries have set up a committee assigned to find a solution to the problem.
