Syrian Christians are calling on the U.S. to help protect them after Turkish troops were seen gathering on the border between the two volatile nations, the Christian Headlines website reports today (July 22, 2019).
The Syrian Military Council, which is supported by the U.S. government, said, "Turkey has amassed its forces and its jihadist proxies at that point. It clearly aims to invade Northern Syria."
The U.S. has issued a firm warning to Turkey.
"Unilateral action into northeastern Syria by any party is of grave concern," said a Pentagon spokesperson. "We would find any such actions unacceptable."
