Coptic Orthodox Bishop Epiphanius, Abbot of the Monastery of San Macarius in Egypt, was murdered yesterday, the Independent Catholic News website reports today (July 30, 2018).
The lifeless Abbot was found lying in a pool of blood by monks, inside the monastery at dawn on July 29.
It seems the Bishop was hit on the head with a sharp, heavy object in a terrorist act.
Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria expressed his condolences in an official statement, describing the late bishop as filled with modesty and gentleness.
