Man Nabbed in Australia for Assaulting Girl,12; Lebanon Muslim, 26, Said He Married the Girl

A 26-year-old Muslim student from Lebanon is being held without bail in Australia for 25 counts of sexual assault with a minor, the Clarion Project website reports today (July 31, 2014).

The man was living with a 12-year-old girl he had "married" in a sharia (Islamic law) ceremony arranged by the girl's father, a 62-year-old convert to Islam. According to police documents, the girl was told that sharia law superseded Australian law.

"The man admitted to having sex daily with the girl, but when questioned on this he showed no remorse and was confident that in doing this he had committed no crime," police documents say.

The father -- who is separated from the girl's mother --  told police detectives he was "shocked" at being arrested, and said he saw "nothing wrong" with the union. He has been charged with procuring a child for sex and an accessory before the fact to sexual intercourse with a child.

Islamic law allows men to marry girls as young as 12 in predominantly Muslim countries.

  1. Sharia adherents should learn that Sharia is NOT the law in many lands, and God forbid that it ever should be!
