India: 5 Soldiers Killed in Kashmir Near Pakistan; Pakistan Denies Responsibility for the Killings

India claims that five of its soldiers have been killed in the nation of Kashmir along the disputed border with Pakistan, the Euro News website reports today (August 6, 2013).

Indian media said the deaths came during an attack on an Indian military post. The incident comes as the two nuclear powers have been moving towards resuming stalled peace talks.

Security officials in Islamabad, Pakistan have denied responsibility for the attack.

Pakistan and India have been fighting on and off for the control of Kashmir -- which borders both nations -- for more than a half-century.
