Greek Orthodox Priest Shot Twice in Lyon, France; French Cartoons of Islam Angering Many Muslims

A person with a sawed-off rifle shot a Greek Orthodox priest today (October 31, 2020) in Lyon, France, according to the AOL website.

Authorities say the priest was shot twice in the abdomen while closing his church, and is now in critical condition.

The motive is unclear, but comes just days after a Muslim man killed three people at a church in the French city of Nice.

Tensions have been high between France and Muslim nations recently due to the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo's publishing of images of Mohammad, which is forbidden under Islam.
