Russian President Vladimir Putin marked the national Unity Day holiday with a trip to Crimea yesterday, declaring the region will always be a part of Russia, the Euro News website reports today (November 5, 2021).
Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 -- a move western countries regard as illegitimate.
Putin exalted the annexation while visiting Sevastopol, the city in Crimea that is now home port of Russia's Black Sea fleet.
