The two gunmen who entered a Jersey City, N.J. kosher supermarket yesterday and engaged in a deadly shootout with police deliberately chose the store as an anti-Semitic hate crime, the JTA (Jewish Telegraphic Agency) website reports today (December 11, 2019).
"We now believe the active shooters targeted the location they attacked," Jersey City mayor Steven Fulop said in a tweet today.
Six people were killed, including a police officer and three civilians, in gunfire yesterday afternoon that ended with an hour-long shootout at the JC Kosher Supermarket.
The officer had been shot earlier at a nearby cemetery trying to head off two suspects in homicide. Those two gunmen were killed in the supermarket shootout.
