The Bishop of Bursa Epidoforos today (May 11, 2019) was elected the new Greek Orthodox Archbishop of America, according to the Greek Reporter website.
The decision was made in Istanbul by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presiding.
Epidoforos Lampriniadis was born in Istanbul in 1967. He graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where also received his Ph.D. in theology.
He was the abbot of the Monastery of Holy Trinity in Halki from August of 2011.
