A man was shot dead by police yesterday after he set a car on fire and stabbed three people -- one fatally -- on a busy street in Melbourne, Australia, in what authorities say was an act of terrorism, the Yahoo News website reports today (November 10, 2018).
Police officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire in Melbourne's central business district when they were confronted by a man brandishing a knife and threatening them.
Officers shot the man as he ran toward them, police said. None of the officers was hurt.
The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
