Pope Attacks Clergy Who Live for Love of Money; Clergy Can't Talk Poverty, Lead Life of a Pharaoh

Pope Francis has criticized careerist cardinals who are too attached to money, the Christian Today website reports today (November 7, 2015).

"If a believer speaks out about poverty, and leads the life of a Pharaoh, this cannot be done," he said in an interview with "Straatnieuws," a Dutch newspaper sold on the streets by homeless people.

The pope added, "In the Church, there are those who instead of serving, or thinking of others, take advantage of the Church. The careerists who are too attached to money," he said.

He concluded, "How many priests and bishops have we seen like that? It's sad, isn't it?"
