Detroit Billboard Says "America First Not Israel;" Seeks to Abolish Harmony among American Jews

A large billboard in Detroit that reads "America First Not Israel" is causing controversy, and some are accusing its message of being anti-Semitic, the Jerusalem Post website reports today (October 26, 2015).

The sign -- placed on 8 Mile Road in Detroit -- says it was "Paid for by Deir Yassin Remembered," a New York-based organization that has been posting similar signs throughout the United States.

The Anti-Defamation League's Heidi Budaj said the ad is trying to "drive a wedge between the American people and the state of Israel." She added... "while many of the Jewish people in the United States support the state of Israel as a Jewish state, we are loyal to Americans."

Last month, there was much disagreement among Jewish people in the United States, as a plethora of American Jews supported Israel -- rather than the United States -- by opposing President Barack Obama's pact with Iran to prevent it from producing a nuclear weapon. Instead, these American Jews supported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's efforts to prevent the United States from signing the nuclear pact with Iran. Many other American Jews supported the U.S. pact with Iran, which was approved.
