Militants in Syria Committing Organ Trafficking; Most Traffick Organs Go to Turkey by Ambulance

Militants in war-torn Syria have organized a special group to collect the bodies of dead Syrians for organ trafficking, the Big News Network website reports today (February 8, 2014).

Press TV has reported the bodies are transported to local hospitals where organs are removed and sent on to recipients.

It is believed that the trafficked organs are mostly sent into Turkey via private ambulance services.

In 2013, it was also alleged that a number of young injured Syrian citizens who were taken to hospitals in the cities of Antakya and Iskenderun in Turkey for treatment had instead fallen foul of  organ traffickers. At that time, the Lebanese newspaper Ad-Diyar reported that Turkish doctors had confirmed livers, kidneys, and hearts from over 15,000 Syrians had been excised before their bodies were returned to Syria for burial.
