Indian Teen Gang-Raped by 3 Men, Burned Alive; Eighth-Grader Was Walking Home When Attacked

Police said that a teenage girl died today (October 23, 2013) after she was gang-raped and burned alive by three men in a village in northern India, the Global Post website reports.

The girl -- age 13 or 14 -- was pronounced dead at a hospital this morning, the "Times of India" reported.

She suffered burns to 80 percent of her body following the incident last night in Sirsa Kalaar area of Orai, which lies in the district of Jalaun in northern India's Uttar Pradesh state.

According to police, the eighth-grader was walking home from a local farm with her sister when she was grabbed by three men. Her sister was able to escape and run for help, but to no avail. Local authorities have been raiding different locations in search of the assailants.
