Los Angeles County reported its first case of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus this week, the LA Times website reports today (December 3, 2021).
County health officials said the infection was probably travel-related, as the individual had returned from South Africa via London on November 22.
Officials are urging LA residents to get tested more frequently -- particularly if they plan to travel or gather with family or friends during the holiday season.
