Trump Planned to Hit Iran for a Nuclear Growth; Was Dissuaded by Senior Advisers Not To Do So

President Trump sought options last week for attacking Iran to stop its growing nuclear program, the NY Times website reports today (November 17, 2020).

"President Trump asked senior advisers in the Oval Office meeting last Thursday whether he had options to take action against Iran's main nuclear site in the coming weeks," U.S. officials said yesterday.

The meeting occurred a day after international inspectors reported a significant increase in Iran's stockpile of nuclear material.

Several senior advisers dissuaded the president from moving ahead with a military strike, warning that it could escalate into a broader conflict.
